ABCs of interviewing

When you head to an interview, it’s imperative to have a game plan. Patti Franco shared the following ABCs of the job interview at a recent Tempe Career Network presentation.
A. ARRIVAL
When you arrive at your interview, be sure to have a résumé available. Print it on quality paper and have enough copies to share, should more than one interviewer be present at the meeting. Collect business cards from those you meet so you will have names and contact information when you follow up.
B. BEFORE YOU LEAVE:
Ask the best method of follow-up (e.g., e-mail or phone). Ask the best time/date for follow-up.
C. CONSIDERATION:
Send your follow-up within the time period stated. Make sure it is either a thank-you e-mail or handwritten note. Be respectful of the timelines given and don’t be pesky.
Remember that your “first impression” continues through the interview and after. Just a résumé won’t cut it. You need to follow through to ensure that you stay top of mind and get the job!
