The Grammar Doctors is a boutique firm providing résumé design and career-marketing documents. Started by Amanda Collins in 2006 and based in Phoenix, Ariz., The Grammar Doctors works with clients around the globe to present them in the best possible light to prospective employers.

Far from just spelling and grammar checks, strong marketing principles are at the base of our success. That is exceptionally evident in Amanda’s thematic approach to networking: she wears a stethoscope necklace as The Grammar Doctor and provides clients with a first-aid kit of correction tools. She has built a solid reputation in the Phoenix metro area and has lasting partnerships with executive recruiters across the US.

Amanda has a B.S. in child and youth services from Medaille College in Buffalo, NY, and has completed all but her thesis for an M.A. in career development at Prescott College in Prescott, Ariz. She currently serves as the president of the Résumé Writers’ Council of Arizona and is on the board of IMPACT for Enterprising Women and Networking Employment Training Professionals Association. She is also a member in good standing of the National Résumé Writers Council of America.

A note from the chief of staff:

I started writing as a child and had a poem published in middle school. Writing came easily to me, although I didn’t pursue it as a vocation. Instead, I started writing résumés at the urging of a college professor in 1996 and began a career in higher education admissions and marketing, developing and implementing full communications strategies to encourage prospective students to enroll. My favorite part of what I do is seeing how empowered clients are through what I write about them and their companies.

Personally, I am a single mother to Patrick, my five-year-old son, and Phoenix, our eight-year-old Lab/Chow mix. I enjoy spending way too much time in the social media sphere,  a good lemon drop martini, hiking, collecting The Little Mermaid and Wonder Woman figurines, ethnic vegetarian food, Kevin Smith movies, and wearing costumes at events.

I look forward to meeting you and working with you on your communications needs. If you have questions about me or The Grammar Doctors, don’t hesitate to be in touch.
